Łódź is famous as the film centre of Poland. The city gained its fame thanks to the famous Film School, i.e. The Leon Schiller Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź, with graduates as famous as Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polański, Krzysztof Zanussi, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Kazimierz Kutz. The Film School provides training in directing, cinematography, film animation, acting, photography, film and television production management, film editing, film and television production and digital media. The School is also the organizer of the International Festival of Film Schools “Mediaschool”, offering young film makers an opportunity to present their talents.

Se-Ma-For
Se-Ma-For it is famous polish animation studio. Founded in Łódź, Poland, in 1947, it has created many animated cartoons and stop motion puppet animations, for young and mature audiences.
Its most famous productions include the children's shows: “Miś Uszatek”, “Przygody misia Colargola”, “Przygody kota Filemona”, “Przygód kilka wróbla Ćwirka” and “Zaczarowany ołówek”.
In February 2008, one of it short animated films, Peter and the Wolf, received the Academy Award for best animated short film. It was the second Oscar-winning film made by the studio - the first came in the same category in 1983 - "Tango" by Zbigniew Rybczyński.
