Description
The Wierzynek Restaurant
The Wierzynek Restaurant is inspired by the events that occurred in Cracow in the year 1364. A well-known merchant, Mikolaj Wierzynek, was the host of a feast in honour of the European emperors and kings invited to Krakow by the Polish King Casimir the Great. It is believed that the monarchs received the gold plates on which they had eaten in order to commemorate this event. Today the Wierzynek Restaurant treats every guest with the same unique approach, as Mikolaj Wierzynek 600 years ago.
Thanks to its exquisite cuisine, perfectly trained staff, elegance and timeless charm Wierzynek was proclaimed the best restaurant in Cracow in 2008 by the prestigious Michelin Guide. At Wierzynek chefs season the ancient court recipe dishes with a pinch of modern taste.
The Wierzynek Restaurant is situated in the heart of Cracow at the Main Market Square no.15 so that their Guests may admire through the window the view of the Cloth Hall and St. Mary’s Church.
Wierzynek is related not only to tradition, but to modernity and professionalism as well. Many guests like the combination and entrust Wierzynek with the organization of conferences, trainings and prestigious business meetings.
Such honourable guests as the former Presidents of Poland Lech Walesa and Aleksander Kwasniewski, the King of Spain Juan Carlos, or Nobel Peace Prize Winner Yitzhak Rabin have enjoyed the unique ambience of the Wierzynek Restaurant. Wierzynek is also frequented by Polish as well as international celebrities like the directors Steven Spielberg and Peter Greenaway, actress Sophie Marceau, model Kate Moss, singer Urszula Dudziak.
An American bestseller „1000 Places to See Before You Die” mentioned the Wierzynek Restaurant as a place that is definitely worth a visit.
