Annual Christmas Market in Krakow Has Just begun! Visit Krakow in December to see the famous Krakow's cribs and to hunt for souvenir at the Christmas Market in Krakow!
The Christmas Market is organized on the Main Markes Square , in the living heart of Krakow, where dozens of wooden stall shops are constructed. Here you can buy Christmas decorations, including famous hand painted Christmas balls, gifs, traditional local products and sweets. While walking around the Main Square do not miss tasting the famous Grzaniec Galicyjcki – hot wine with spice (in winter eveing it will really worm you up!) or traditional Polish dishes eg. smoked cheese, Polish sausage, dumplings sold in one of the wooden stall shops.
Visiting Krakow in December remember to visit the exhibition of famous Christmas Cribs which are unique for Krakow. The Krakow cribs are hand made and are famous for their fabulous colours and the variety of details inspired by the local architecture. Traditionally, a majority of the cribs are imitations of Krakow's monumental buildings and they combine the typical nativity Scene with the local motifs eg. Krakow churches, historical buildings or even puppets referring to the local legends and tradition..Such a Christmas crib is one of the most popular Christmas souvenir from Krakow!
Every year in Krakow the Contest for the Most Beautiful Christmas Cribs is organized. On the first Thursday of December all the crib-makers gather at the Main Market Square with their hand-made to display them - it is a spectacular performance!
The Christmas Market in Krakow will be accompanied by many attractions: concerts, performances and festivals. It will last until 06th January 2012
